Wren

The wren is one of our commonest British bird and also one of the smallest. It is red-brown, barred darker and found in low cover from gardens to remote sea cliffs.
Some roost communally in winter and over 60 have been watched at dusk going into a single nestbox!

This wren is carved in spalted beech collected on a local Estate and is roughly lifesize. It is 37mm wide by 80mm long and 50mm deep. It is mounted on a weathered oak log that itself stands at 130mm.Spalting refers to the black lines on the wood that are totally natural.

This wren is carved in American walnut rescued locally from a tree surgeon.The bird is about lifesize and is 37mm wide by 50 mm deep by 80 mm long. It is mounted on a weathered oak log which in itself stands at 120mm.The overall height is 150mm and tipifies the stance of the wren always on the move from log to log.
